Building Bearletter

The focus right now is getting the blogging experience right: a clear dashboard, a dependable editor, and a public site that feels good to read.

The current version has draft autosaving, snapshots, a separate preview window, media management, and RSS. I’m working through the details that connect them—how a page gets into navigation, how the archive helps a reader explore, and how the same content feels in light and dark mode.

Making the default feel finished

Classic is the only theme for now. That constraint leaves more room to work on typography, spacing, and alignment before adding choices.

The header now puts the site name above the navigation. Home, articles, and the footer share the same reading width. The aim is a site that feels considered before an author changes a single setting.

What comes next

Newsletter is the next part of the product to deepen: publishing on the web and sending by email, with a straightforward way to bring existing newsletters into the blog.

For now, the priority is the foundation. A smaller, complete experience is more useful than a longer settings menu.
